Antibiotics & Hormones in Foods
ANTIBIOTICS
Meats and dairy products are tainted with antibiotics, growth hormones, and other chemicals. Antibiotics given to animals raised for food causes and increase in antibiotic resistance in humans.
HORMONES
It is believed that exposure to and metabolism of estrogens and other hormones in meats may cause the appearance of secondary sex characteristics in girls before age eight (or menstruation before age nine) and in boys before age nine. Further, it may potentially contribute to various gender-related cancers and infertility in both males and females in later years. In the US, steroid hormones are used to increase the growth of beef cattle and poultry. Such use has been banned in the European Union.
